Flanges Flanges are circular plates used to connect pipelines, valves, pumps, and other plumbing equipment. What is a flange? Widely used in plumbing and mechanical engineering, flanges are standardized connecting elements that allow two machines or plumbing components to be joined in a leak-proof manner. They are usually made of metal, most commonly steel. One side of a flange has holes, which are used to secure it to another flange or equipment with bolts or nuts. This ensures a tight connection between the two flange surfaces and prevents leaks.

Sayfa İçeriği

Toggle

Types of Flanges:

Operating Principle of Flanges:

Applications of Flanges:

Flange Selection:

Types of Flanges:

Flanges can be classified into different types based on various factors. The most commonly used types of flanges are:

Flat Flanges: The simplest type of flange. They have a flat surface and holes around the perimeter. They are used in low-pressure and low-temperature applications.

Raised Flanges: They have higher pressure resistance compared to flat flanges. They feature a raised edge and a gasket groove.

Weld Neck Flanges: A type of flange that is welded to pipes for a secure connection. They provide a stronger joint and are used in high-pressure applications.

Lap Joint Flanges: A type of flange formed by overlapping two flanges. They are used in low-pressure and vibration-prone applications.

Operating Principle of Flanges:

Flanges provide a leak-proof connection between two flange surfaces by using a gasket.
