Description

The Automatic Gear-Type Bottom Blowdown System is used to automatically discharge accumulated sediments in industrial liquid or steam lines. In these systems, a ball valve design with rotating elements is preferred, and the opening–closing operation is carried out with the help of a pneumatic actuator. The direction of the fluid is controlled according to the position of the ball inside the valve. In this way, the contamination accumulated in the system and the pressurized fluid are safely discharged at predetermined cycles. The automatic blowdown systems offered by Unox are manufactured using high-performance and durable materials.

How Are the Actuator and Auxiliary Equipment Configured?

In this system, 2-way ball valves with pneumatic actuators are used, and the valve body is manufactured from stainless steel or brass. Actuator models compatible with torque values ranging from 9 Nm to 400 Nm, depending on the connection diameter, are preferred. In addition, auxiliary components such as a switch box and a directional control valve can be optionally integrated into the system. In this way, the position information obtained from the system is transmitted as a signal to the automation system, providing feedback to the control center.

What Are the Actuator Codes and Force Values?

Below, the actuator codes suitable for the system and their corresponding torque values are listed:

  • UDA 040 = 9 Nm

  • UDA 052 = 25 Nm

  • UDA 063 = 50 Nm

  • UDA 083 = 94 Nm

  • UDA 092 = 135 Nm

  • UDA 105 = 270 Nm

  • UDA 125 = 400 Nm

Thanks to this structure, the desired level of precision and performance can be achieved in system design. The control system can be configured as on–off or proportional, thus providing a solution tailored to specific needs. All technical details are available through the Unox Online platform.

What Are the Mechanical Structure and Construction Features?

The system body is manufactured using the aluminum extrusion method, enhancing corrosion resistance from the inside out. The cylinder surface is machined to provide a low coefficient of friction, aiming for long service life and performance. The pistons are designed with a symmetrical structure, allowing ease during direction changes. In addition, the pinion gears allow mounting at 45° and 90° angles. The gear surfaces are machined on special equipment to achieve maximum efficiency. All components are designed in compliance with ISI 5211, DIN 3337, and VDI/VDE 3845 NAMUR standards. As a result, system components can be quickly assembled and disassembled, minimizing maintenance time.
